Frequently Asked Questions About Our Work in Higher Education
What Higher Ed CMS platforms do you use?
For colleges and universities, we most commonly work in Drupal and WordPress, but we are a deliberately adaptable team that works in a variety of other technologies, including Adobe Experience Manager, React, Gatsby, Vue, Contentful, and others. We recommend that potential clients reach out regardless of their CMS platform.
Can you integrate with our other platforms in use at the college/university?
We regularly integrate websites with other digital platforms commonly used in higher education. Whether you’re using CRM & data management platforms like Salesforce, Peoplesoft, or Courseleaf, or digital marketing tools like Marketo, Adobe Target, or Pardot — we have you covered.
Where is your team based?
We began as a Philadelphia digital marketing agency, but we’re now a fully remote company with team members across the country. We leverage a variety of tools and techniques to ensure that remote collaboration is thoughtful, effective, and consistent.
What colleges or universities have you worked with?
We’ve worked with Harvard, Yale, University of Pennsylvania, Penn State University, Eastern University, Drexel University, Cornell University, Arcadia University, Temple University, Young Harris College, Rutgers University, Concordia St. Paul University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and other colleges and universities.
What is different about higher education compared to other industries your agency works with?
Higher education websites serve many different audiences with different needs and different conversion paths. Prospective undergraduate students may go to the application form eventually, but oftentimes will first request a visit or request more information. Parents may be looking at the safety of the school and its various support services. Prospective graduate students will expect to learn about the faculty and research programs available, and alumni will want to understand what the college or university is doing to grow and evolve.
Many colleges and universities are also decentralized, with various schools, programs, and departments operating independently under the broad banner of the school. Building consensus across groups and implementing a cohesive, concerted strategy is part of our process when working with colleges and universities.
What SEO challenges do colleges and universities face?
Colleges and universities generally offer a wide variety of programs to separate audience groups, which means that search engine optimization efforts have to be segmented and targeted for specific programs and specific audiences.
In addition to holistic SEO best practices, our SEO strategy for colleges and universities breaks down into “focal points” – usually groups of programs that have the highest value for the school – and we bolste the content, technical SEO, and conversion optimization for those focal points. Once we’ve optimized for a specific set of focal points, we move onto the next set while analyzing, assessing, and continuing to optimize across the site.
